Vendome

I love learning about these old-time glamorous costume jewelry makers...

Vendome was one of the top costume jewelry lines. They existed from 1944-1979

Vendome was a quality line of jewelry produced by Coro Jewelry Company which was created to replace "Corocraft" as their high end line.

The Vendome line was named after a street in Paris that housed many fine fashion houses. This was no accident as Coro intended the line to emulate fine French fashion.

The earliest jewelry produced by the company included enchanting beaded necklace and earring jewelry. Up until the late 50's Vendome pearls were by far their most popular jewelry. The product line was then expanded to include a wide variety of styles which included a line of cocktail rings and watches.

Today, early Vendome art glass and crystal jewelry are most desired among collectors.

Here is a Vendome ring I have on EtsyClick here to View!

Ive also notices Vendome rings have a flat bottom that makes them more comfortable. Especially when holding a coctail!

Hopefully I will come across more Vendome soon!

Coro

The CORO jewelry company started doing business about 1900. It was the largest of all costume jewelry manufactures, and marked the jewelry in many different names. The list is too long to publish here but the top of their line was Coro Craft with Coro in script and with the Pegasus emblem in block or out side of block. Later the top of the line would become Vendome, and they could compete with some of the most famous manufactures of costume jewelry. Adolf Katz was the leader or head of the company and had many designer's doing work for Coro. They became famous for duettes, tremblers, door knocker and crown pins they produced. The Coro company went out of business in 1979 after 80 years of making costume jwelrey.

Then after World War 1 it became Napier Bliss Co. and in 1922 it became The Napier Co. The mark Napier in block has been used since 1922 till its sale in late 1980s and merchandise was marked Napier in script, the company was purchased by "Victoria & Co". The Napier company was closed by Victoria & Co on 10-15-99. Nothing but excessive stock was last being sold by those dealers that were lucky enought to have it.
